What is a lokpal bill ? Do u know?

The lokpal bill is a body that contains 3 members out of which one is the chairperson who can be a chief justice or a Supreme Court judge and the other 2 are the members who can be chief justices or high court judges.

To reduce corruption in India this lokpal bill will be implemented.

The office of the ombudsman in different countries is the place from where this idea of lokpal bill has been taken.

With the ombudsman, complaints of corruption against the members of parliament and the ministers and even the prime minister can be filed.

Except for a public servant any other person can complain against corruption and within 6 months this enquiry has to be completed by the lokpal.

This bill has been put by the government after 42 years.

In 1968, in the fourth Lok Sabha this bill was presented and then was passed in 1969 but then it died because the Lok Sabha dissolved.
This bill has been revived again and again at different times till 2008.

UPA led by congress lost no time in reviving the bill but then the strong bodies blocked it, as said by our prime minister in September 2004.

The 2010 bill still is waiting for an okay from a selecting body.

Mr. Rajinder Sachar, who is the rights activist and the former chief justice of delhi high court feels that the bill is baseless and shameful and gives a false promise to people about the seriousness of the government for the fight against corruption.

The former chief justice Mr. M N Venkatachelliah wants that our prime minister should be out of all this.

Do u know the following facts about lokpal bill ?

1. This will be independent in itself like the election commission and the supreme court
2. Every enquiry will be done within a time period of one year and the trial will be completed in the next year
3. A corrupt politician or a judge or any other member of parliament will be send to jail within 2 years
4. Due to corruption whatever loss the government has to bear that money will be received from the corrupt person after he is proved guilty
5. If the complaint registered by a person is not attended within the time period then that lokpal officer will be charged some money which will be given to the person who has filed the complaint
6. Members of the lokpal will be selected by the judge, the people and govt. bodies and not by the politicians
7. The anti corruption units of CVC , Vigilance department and the CBI will work together with the lokpal
8. Lokpal will have all the power to do its enquiry on judges , politicians and officers.
9. Justice Santosh hedge , Prashant bhushan and arvind kejriwala has discussed this bill with the public and then have prepared it and put it forward
10. The work in lokpal will be totally transparent and for any complaint against the lokpal member, the enquiry will be completed in 2 months and he will be fired from his job.
