Our National Anthem…

Something interesting……… and shocking………………..

Is jana gana mana just a thought for the national anthem or do we really know about it well?

I always wonder what do these words ‘adhinayak’ and’ bharat bhagya vidhata’ mean? Who are we praising while singing it? It might be Motherland India!

Our current national anthem which is sung everywhere in the country is “Jana gana mana”.

I never knew all this about our national anthem. Did you know?

In 1919 when King George V and Queen of England visited India then in their honor Rabindranath Tagore wrote our national anthem “Jana gana mana”. We always thought that the five stanzas included in the national anthem by Pandit Motilal Nehru is in the praise of our great motherland but it actually was in honor of the visit of the king and the queen.

Following is a translation of the five stanzas that glorify the King.

Indian National Anthem By Rabindranath Tagore

In the original Bengali verses only provinces Punjab, Sindh, Gujarat, Maratha etc were mentioned as they were under the british rule and the integral parts of India , our princely states Kashmir, Rajasthan, Andhra, Mysore or Kerala were not mentioned.

Since the Indian Ocean and the Arabian Sea were directly ruled by the Portuguese at that time so even the were not included. The line “Jana gana mana adhinayak” means that Kin George V is the lord of the people and the line “bharata bhagya vidhata” means that he was the bestower of good fortune.

1st stanza: the line “Tava shubha name jaage, tava shubha aashish maage, gaaye tava jaya gaatha” means that the people of India when wake up they remember your good name and seek your blessings and sing your glories.

2nd stanza: to give their love, all the people of all religions come around your throne and to hear your kind words the people wait.
3rd stanza: in these lines the king is being praised for leading the ancient travelers beyond their misery just like a charioteer.
4th stanza: the lines in this stanza implies that the people who are drowned in deep ignorance of this unconscious country and are suffering with poverty are just waiting for your eyes to wink and true protection from your mother who is the Queen.
5th stanza: In your plans which are so compassionate, the India which is sleeping will wake up and will bow down to the queen’s feet and the king’s (rajeshwara) glory.

This poem only depicts a bleak picture but does not show any love for our motherland. Whom do u glorify when you sing “Jana Gana Mana”? Is it god ? because it is certainly not the motherland. Now is the right time to know the original purpose and understand the meaning  rather than singing it blindly like in the past 50 years.

Even Vande Mataram can be played for the praise of our motherland as it is a far better composition than the national anthem.
For people to know about it please don’t brake this chain.

Please don’t break the chain lets see how many people are coming to know about it.

WE PROUD TO BE INDIAN
