ICS Subhash Chandra and Engineer Stratchi knew about this courtesy. Netaji examined minutely all the models one by one. Then suddenly he stopped before one model. It’s a very simple model with a simple design. It is a pillar with three heads on top. It has no ornamental craftsmanship, on slogan written on it except three famous slogans of INA – Ittefaq, Itmad and Kurbani.

These saying may fit on the statues of any country without prejudice – no grudge against any enemy – no evil utterance against enemy is expressed in these words. Not only Azad Hind Fauz, but also people of any country uttered these three words before their death.

Looking at the Engineer, the Supreme Commander said, Cornel, I want it to be completed before the British Army lands here. It should be on the bank of the sea in Singapore. Will that be possible for you to fulfill my wish? Col. Stratchy respectfully lowering his head replied – of course it will be possible to complete, Sir.

Col. Stratchy knew what a promise he has made. This huge statue will take at least two to three week’s time to erect. Though neither I nor my colleagues can predict when the enemy army will land on this land. We have to surrender immediately after their landing, leaving the work unfinished. Under this circumstance, it would be very difficult to arrange for a contractor to build the minar. As that time all will be busy fleeing out of here. Yet, that dauntless soldier assured him saying – Sir, rest assure, I will finish this work at any cost- I give my word.
Netaji holding his hand and pressing it said – I knew you will be able to finish the work. Freeing his right hand, Stratchy stood up and saluted him – uttering Jai Hind!
He immediately left the room to start his works. Not a single minute is to be wasted. Col. Stratchy, Capt. Malik and their colleagues really made possible an impossible task. They finished the work before British Army could capture Singapore. Sahid miner is the symbol of all those brave hearted Indians who sacrificed their lives for the sake of mother India’s Freedom. Netaji laid the foundation stone of that miner who also gave the shape and name of that statue: The day the work on the statue finished, all the INA personnel came to garland the statue. They then saw that the statue is also the remembrance of their own Netaji.

Happy Happy Diwali

Happy Diwali

Diwali or Deepawali  is certainly the biggest and the brightest of all Hindu festivals. It’s the festival of lights (deep = light and avali = a row i.e., a row of lights) that’s marked by four days of celebration, which literally illumines the country with its brilliance, and dazzles all with its joy. Each of the four days in the festival of Diwali is separated by a different tradition, but what remains true and constant is the celebration of life, its enjoyment and goodness.
